About Pack 385

Pack 385 has long been one of the strongest and most active Cub Scout packs in Sheridan County. Currently we are the largest packs with around 65 members. We serve boys in grades 1st through 5th from any grade school in the Sheridan area.

The Pack is divided into Dens, which are groups of boys of the same grade. Tiger Cubs is for first graders, Wolves for second graders, Bears for third graders, and Webelos for fourth and fifth graders. These dens participate in age-appropriate activities under the direction of adult volunteers called Den Leaders. These Dens typically get together weekly for meetings where they learn Scouting skills, do outdoor activities, arts and crafts, play games, and have fun. Once a month, all the dens meet together for a Pack Meeting, typically on the last Monday of every month. These Pack meetings are for the whole family, and include presentation of awards and advancements that the Scouts have earned, plus songs, skits, and other fun activities.

There are several major events during the year. These include the Pinewood Derby, Raingutter Regatta, Space Derby, Blue and Gold Banquet, and several other fun and exciting outings. The Elakawee District annually sponsors the Scout-O-Rama, winter fun day, and summer day camp.

The boys in Pack 385 are also very involved in their community. We served food and drinks, as well as passed out awards to veterans at the VA Medical Center Veteran’s Day celebration. Pack 385 participated in the local caring and sharing food drive by passing out bags door to door and then collecting non-perishable food for the Salvation Army food bank. And finally the boys and their families annually go Christmas caroling at a local nursing home.

Pack 385 believes, just like Sir Robert Baden-Powell (British army officer, founder of Boy Scouts) stated, “The spirit is there in every boy; it has to be discovered and brought to light.”
