2010 Centennial Rendezvous - August 6 & 7, 2010

Posted on Feb 2 2010 - 11:43am

In celebration of Scoutings 100th anniversary the Central Wyoming Council is planning the Centennial Rendezvous.  The final details are not complete yet, but here is a list of what is known so far:

1.  The Council is expecting about 2,000 people overall with about 500 Cub Scouts attending Day Camp on Saturday, August 7, 2010.

2.  The location is the Independence Rock State Historic Site, 60 miles southwest of Casper on Wyoming Highway 220.  This was the site of a Scout Jamboree in 1930.

3.  The Boy Scouts will arrive on Thursday, August 5th, and the Cub Scout families are encouraged to arrive on Friday, August 6th and camp overnight.  There will be a large number of pioneer, mountain man and Indian interactive displays to see.

4.  There will be a big show on Friday night with music, important guests and possibly fireworks.

5.  The Cub Scout Day Camp will start on Saturday at 10AM and wrap up at 3PM.  The entire camp will have a closing show and a barbeque on Saturday night.  There will be a traditional Scout campfire with skits and songs and everyone is welcome to camp on Saturday night as well.

6.  Registration forms and pricing will come out sometime after the first of the year.

7.  This will take the place of our local Day Camp so please put it on your calendars and plan on attending.  Our pack will plan some summer activities, but you will not want to miss out on this awesome experience.

100 Years of Scouting

Posted on Sep 3 2009 - 2:32pm

In February 2010, the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate 100 years as an organization. Founded as an outlet to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a participating citizen and leader, BSA has more than fulfilled its mission. Today, as we celebrate our first 100 years, we not only reflect on our rich history, but lay the foundation for a strong future, as well.
